The Promise of Humility
Isaiah 66:2
This is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.
Humility draws the gaze of our sovereign God.
Israel had everything going for them but they lacked humility.
We need to move from our prideful assumption of privilege and the trappings of religion.
2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.
-God is decisively drawn to humility
-Drawing Gods’s attention also means drawing his grace.
James 4:6 God gives grace to the humble—Not those who help themselves
The need for biblical definition of humility—

“Humility is honestly assessing ourselves in light of God’s holiness and our sinfulness.” C J Mahaney
Humility is rooted in positional awareness of God’s holiness and our sinfulness.
The Test: Will others say that humility characterized our lives?
In leadership humility matters, in Christian living humility matters.
God gives grace to the humble.
